ABOUT THE TRAIL

From ocean edge to escarpment ridge.
A route shaped by terrain, history, and elevation.

THE ILLAWARRA ESCARPMENT

The Illawarra Escarpment rises sharply from the coastline, forming a dramatic wall between ocean and plateau.

This landscape has been shaped over millions of years, creating sharp cliffs, dense rainforest pockets, and exposed ridgelines with uninterrupted coastal views.

WODI WODI TRACK

THE ASCENT BEGINS

The climb after Stanwell Park to the Wodi Wodi Track is a mix of technical single track, rolling up and down through dense rainforests.

You will cross two creeks before a climb to the start of the Forest Walk Track.

Named after the Wodi Wodi people, traditional custodians of this land, the track follows historic pathways that once connected the coast to the plateau.

FOREST WALK

The TRAVERSE

The Forest Walk is the major traverse from the Stanwall Park area to Sublime Point. Following an escarpment climb, you will have rolling trails with views over the Illawarra coastline.

As you transition from the Stairs out of Wodi Wodi you will have one of the best single tracks in the Illawarra to traverse.

Winding along the coastline, you will transition into the Woodward track as you arrive at Sublime Point.

SUBLIME POINT

WHERE THE COAST OPENS UP

At over 400 metres above sea level, Sublime Point delivers one of the most iconic views on the NSW South Coast.

From here, the coastline unfolds north and south – a constant companion as the trail tracks along the escarpment.

This is a spot you want to stop for a moment to get the phone out and capture the moment.

HOPETOUN

Where IT ALL COMES TOGETHER

The finish sits just south of Panorama House at Bulli Lookout where the escarpment meets the finish line community.

19K Runners arrive off the ridge, joining the 6K Runners on their return loop from Sublime to head towards a shared finish line.
